Soft-Bodied Aerial Robot for Collision Resilience and Contact-Reactive Perching hero image

This project develops a soft-bodied aerial robot capable of surviving high-speed collisions with its environment and reactively grasping tree branches on contact. By embedding mechanical intelligence into the body itself, the robot eliminates the need for separate perching manipulators.

The work was featured on the front cover of Soft Robotics and has informed subsequent designs in our group, including metamorphic perching platforms and biodegradable aerial probes.
