A flapping hydrofoil propulsion system designed for uncrewed surface vehicles (USVs). The hydrofoil mimics the oscillatory propulsion of aquatic animals to generate thrust efficiently and quietly, broadening the operating envelope of USVs in coastal and benthic monitoring scenarios.
Design and experimental evaluation of the platform were published in IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters in 2026.
