Tumblerbot — Tumbling Robot Sensors for Benthic Habitats hero image

Tumblerbots are small, passively tumbling robotic sensors designed for minimally invasive monitoring of benthic (seafloor) habitats. Rather than swimming or crawling, they drift with currents and tumble across the seabed, sampling the environment with minimal disturbance to delicate organisms and sediments.

The project won the Best Poster Award at the IEEE RoboSoft HARDER Workshop in 2025.
